What do rock stars, Nobel laureates, bestselling novelists, astronauts, and attorneys have in common? A teacher changed their lives. Bruce and Holly Holbert have combined their creative talents to bring us the stories of teachers who have changed lives all around the country in an anthology of true, personal experiences called Thank You, Teacher. Bruce is a teacher of 30 years who holds an MFA in Creative Writing. Holly holds a degree in Education from Eastern Washington University. They will be joined during this event by Michael Copperman, author of the memoir Teacher, which considers the distance between the idealism of Teach for America’s creed that “One day, all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education and reach their full potential” and what it actually means to teach in America’s poorest and most troubled public schools.
