Our Community Reading features Chelsea Martin, Joseph Edwin Haegar, and Spokane Poet Laureate Laura Read. Martin is a writer and comic artist from Santa Rosa, California. She is the author of four books: Everything Was Fine Until Whatever, The Really Funny Thing About Apathy, Kramer Sutra, and her small press bestseller, Even Though I Don’t Miss You. Martin has published her work with numerous magazines and journals, including Buzzfeed Books, Hobart, Fanzine, and Electric Literature. She is the founder and Creative Director of Universal Error. Joseph Edwin Haeger is the author of Learn to Swim (University of Hell Press, 2015). His writing has appeared in The Pacific NW Inlander, The Big Smoke, Hippocampus Magazine, and others. Laura Read is Spokane’s second poet laureate, appointed to the position in October of 2015. She is the author of one chapbook, The Chewbacca on Hollywood Boulevard Reminds Me of You, and one poetry collection, Instructions for My Mother’s Funeral. The reading will be followed by an open mic, allowing writers from the community of Spokane to come up and share their work. The reading will begin at 11:30 and go until 12:45.
