Doors at 9, reading begins at 9:30. $5 at the door gets you one slice of pie and one shot of Dry Fly Whiskey, 21+
"Is it good? Sir, it is pie. It will bring to camp any idiot that sits in darkness anywhere.” --North American Review, 1901
"The whiskey on your breath/could make a small boy dizzy." --Theodore Roethke (“My Papa’s Waltz”)
Hosted by Sam Ligon, author, editor of Willow Springs, and Professor of Creative Writing at Eastern Washington University, and Kate Lebo, author of Pie School: Lessons in Fruit, Flour, and Butter, the event features 12 authors reading flash fiction, flash nonfiction, and poetry inspired by a deep affinity and abiding appreciation for both pie and whiskey.
Pies served at the event are baked by Kate Lebo, in partnership with Batch Bakeshop. A limited number of chapbooks containing work from the readers will be on sale for $10. The chapbooks are designed by Lost Horse Press, printed by Gray Dog Press, and hand-stitched by EWU students. While sales of the chapbook help support the event, donations are also gladly accepted. We would like to thank Don Poffenroth and Dry Fly Distilling for generously donating the whiskey.
